Geography
Auckland city is located in the North Island of New Zealand. The city is based on and around a narrow isthmus bounded by the Waitemata Harbour to the north and Manukau Harbour to the south. This isthmus is less than 2 kilometres wide at its narrowest point, between Mangere Inlet and the Tamaki River. This city is the main gateway to New Zealand and it is one of the few cities in the world to have harbours on two separate major bodies of water. The Auckland Harbour Bridge connects the city with the rapidly growing northern shore suburbs and also with Devonport which is the chief naval base and dockyard for New Zealand. Climate
Auckland city enjoys a warm-temperate climate. It has well defined seasons, warm-humid summers and mild-damp winters. Mean temperatures range between 23°C in January and February and 13°C in July. The city has the maximum temperature around 30.5°C. The city experiences its most of the rain in winter with an average of 1249 mm per year. The geography of the city (such as hills, land cover and distance from the sea) brings the variation in the climatic conditions in the different parts of the city.

Culture
Auckland city is well known for its multicultural nature. It has the majority of inhabitants from Europe, predominantly British and also Maori, Pacific Islander and Asian communities are the important part of the city. The city has the largest Polynesian population than any city in the world. Auckland is a home for most of the ethnic groups from all corners of the world making it country's most cosmopolitan city.
